Things Are Happening

I'm not sure where to begin. I know it's been awhile since I've posted but we really didn't have too much happening over the winter, except work on Adam's house, which he has now moved into. There are still things that need to be done there, but all-in-all it's looking really good. Maybe I'll do a post just on his house one day.

We're hoping to open 10 to 12 campsites this spring (that includes the cabins) but before we can do that we have 3 pages of "things to do", many of them are things we have to complete to pass inspection. This week a gigantic, concrete tank was put in the ground for a dump station for RVs, when we get around to that. It's part of our 3rd septic system, which includes 4 buildings on the south side of campus. We're hoping the 4th and final septic system will be completed before too long. The tank looks way bigger in person than this photo makes it look. If James was standing in the hole with it, it would be well over his head.

Including mine and James', there are now 5 artist studios at Thunder BRidge. As of tonight the Board Of Supervisors approved the special exception for making the camp a cultural art center. Originally when we applied for the campground special exception we were told only campers could participate in arts and crafts there and visit our studios. They weren't open to the general public. This cultural art center special exception allows the public to participate in workshops, art shows, etc. This was the 9th (or 10th?) time James appeared before the planning commission or board of supervisors. I think he may be able to sleep better tonight. At the planning commission meeting this past month they read more than 30 letters from supporters, many of whom are neighbors. It was really fun to listen to them read aloud. I felt sorry for people who were there for other reasons. Thank you all for your letters of support. It means so much to us.

Now that the temperatures are warming it's getting a little more exciting thinking about possibilities for the camp. I don't like the cold weather very much, but it was a good reason to hole up in our studios and do some painting and collaging.

I will try harder to keep you up to date on what's going on.
